Plastic recycling certification UNI 10667

As is known, by the production process of plastic articles can be generated residues due to tuning and calibration of the process, imperfect product residues, waste, cutting waste as well as due to testing and to the controls on the finished products and to the products possibly not comply.

These residues, which constitute the material that flows continuously from the production cycle (its production is easily attributable to clearly identified processing stages), which does not undergo no contamination and that, precisely for this reason, is trading at a lower price that of the raw material in granule grade, but still within a market value to be re-used by the latter in its production process, under different circumstances were considered (by some authorities responsible for the matter) control such waste, despite having the same characteristics of secondary raw materials and / or byproducts.

For the purposes of this standard, the terms and the following definitions:

  • Raw materials-secondary plastics: materials resulting from recovery / recycling operations of waste plastics consisting of a polymer matrix (polymer or alloys or mixtures of polymers) and fillers, pigments, additives and other polymers compatible with the matrix itself, which is can also present in the form of powder, granules, flakes, agglomerates and densified, and that can be used for their original function, for filling or for more and different purposes.
  • By-products of plastics and raw materials plastics-secondary origin: made from waste materials, plastic scrap and industrial pre-consumer waste deriving from production, or processing the polymer, placed directly on the market without pre-treatment, subject to any grinding or other volume reduction operations by mechanical, as already meeting the requirements of the commodity sector (with reference to any relevant rules of the UNI 10667 series), for additional production / processing of plastic materials, and which contain no foreign substances to higher plastic 1%.

This provision specifies that the use of by-products, plastic raw materials and plastic-secondary origin and the use of secondary raw materials-plastic meet the specifications of these standards, allowing the operator who produces, transports , receives and uses according to the purpose of the rule is not subject to the regulations governing waste management.

IIP provides an inspection service according to the UNI 10667-1. To request the inspection, the company must contact the IIP its references. The institute will send the application forms to be filled in and sent by the IIP.

Subsequently, the Institute will issue and send a budget proposal and following the acceptance thereof will contact the company to schedule the inspection verifies that comprises primarily of an audit conducted by a team of auditors from the organization and / or its suppliers order to verify the organization’s compliance with the reference standard (UNI 10667) and with the legislation applicable (eg. Decree 152/06 and legislative Decree 205/10 for the notion of by-product).

The inspection report with relevant evidence is submitted by the audit team to the Technical Committee of IIP looking at you and releases it to the company.
