LCA: sustainability as a strategic development factor

IIP participated in the webinar organized by Cesap entitled “Life Cycle Assessment and sustainability communication tools“.

The webinar of April 12, to which several speakers were invited, including Serena L’Orfano, Head of sustainability schemes at the Italian Institute of Plastics, was a success: more than 120 subscribers with an extraordinary participation in terms of numbers to demonstrate the extreme topicality of the topic! Today more than ever, sustainability has become a strategic factor for all sectors: the importance that consumers and customers attach to the issue of sustainable development is an essential driver for companies.

The latter have shown the most lively interest: in fact, there have been numerous questions asked by the participants, relating to specific cases with an immediate practical impact.

How can I evaluate my current product from an environmental point of view? How are the benefits or aggravations of environmental impacts analysed in advance by designing material substitutions? Have studies already been carried out on products similar to mine? How does a sustainability communication project develop?

It is not easy to summarize in a few lines the complexity and breadth of the questions posed by the participants: doing more for the environment and doing it better was the leitmotif of the various interventions, while the main interest was shown in the ways in which the Life Cycle Assessment tool  was applied in one’s own company. An attempt was made to respond to the end of the webinar, in the knowledge that the limited time available would not allow a level of detail commensurate with the different cases.

To this end, we invite you to take part in the course organised by Cesap, scheduled for 28 and 29 May, where, in addition to illustrating the fundamental steps for the development of an LCA study, examples of the application of real cases and projects for the development of related communication strategies will be presented.
