IIP was founded in 1956 as the Italian Institute of Plastics , with the aim of supporting the development and qualification of the plastics supply chain through specialized technical certification and verification activities. Over the years, the Institute has progressively expanded its expertise and scope of intervention, evolving into a certification, testing, inspection, and training body accredited by Accredia.

Today, IIP represents a point of reference for companies operating in the plastic, rubber, paper, and cardboard sectors , supporting them in verifying regulatory compliance, qualifying materials, and improving product and process performance.

At its headquarters in Monza, IIP has specialized laboratories for performing physical-chemical, mechanical, and chemical-sensory tests on raw materials and manufactured products. The company is a member of CISQ (Italian Federation of Certification Bodies) and IQNET, an international network of certification bodies in over 150 countries, ensuring global recognition of certificates.

Starting in 2024, the Institute has adopted the new name IIP – Improve, Innovate, Perform, representing an evolution consistent with its role and market challenges.

In the same year, the company became part of the 2MyB Group , together with its subsidiaries CESAP and Cesme, creating a multifunctional hub serving the manufacturing and process industries.
