IIP's chemical-sensory laboratory specializes in MOCA testing for materials and objects in contact with food, performing all tests required by law.

The analyses include the determination of global and specific migrations in food simulants water, A, B, C, D1, D2, E and oil substitute simulants (isooctane and ethanol) as per UNI EN 1186 and UNI EN 13130 standards.

The use of different analytical techniques, including gas and liquid chromatography , spectroscopy and spectrophotometry, allows the determination of primary aromatic amines, metals (UNI EN 11885) and colour migration.

The presence in our laboratories of advanced instrumentation such as ICP-OES, UV-VIS GC-FID/ECD, HS-GC-MS/MS and HPLC, allows the identification and quantification of inorganic, volatile organic, semi-volatile, non-volatile and non-intentionally added substances (NIAS) compounds.

Organoleptic tests (olfactory and taste tests according to various standards, including UNI 10192, UNI EN 1230, UNI EN 1622, NF T54-951) are performed in the chemical-sensory laboratory, evaluating any undesirable odors and flavors that may lead to a deterioration in the organoleptic characteristics of foods and drinking water.

Chemical-sensory analyses are also suitable for Failure Analysis studies, thus expanding the offering beyond standard tests.

Thanks to qualified personnel and validated protocols, the laboratory issues detailed reports, complete with all regulatory and methodological information.

The chemical-sensory laboratory represents a key element in ensuring the safety and quality of the tested materials.
